Important Announcement: The first exam will be sent to you this week. It will cover material from weeks 1 through 4. Please e-mail answers back to me by noon, Wednesday, February 2.

This should be the first page you come to each time you come to class, so bookmark the URL (address of page). The address won't change, but the contents will. This is where I talk to the class, recap the previous week and give an overview of the upcoming week. Video
You will view a good video this week covering the mining
and refinement of copper. While watching this video, please
notice the close relationship between mining, mineral
distribution to end users, and energy consumption required to
make all this happen.

Sites of Interest
Find a website that addresses mining in Nicaragua and describe
any environmental impacts that have been identified in the
discussion forum. Please share your information as well as your
website with other classmates in the discussion forum by noon,
Thursday, February 3.
